Annual Parish Meeting
Thursday 19th May 2016 at 7pm
Present: Cllrs J Honey (Chairman), R West, F Davis, G Price, J Roberts, P Roberts, J Pacey, Miss R Price, Mrs B Samuel and Mrs K Hughes (Clerk to Council)
Residents in attendance: 0
1. The Council received apologies for absence from Cllr Brian Goodwin and these were accepted.
2. Guest Speaker: Jan Powell, Trustee of Herefordshire Heartstart : –
“A talk about Herefordshire Heartstart’s free how to save a life courses and the defibrillator grant from the British Heart Foundation.”
2.1. Jan Powell, Trustee of Herefordshire Heartstart Charity was invited to come along and talk about the free emergency lifesaving courses they run and how this can tie in with a defibrillator. The courses are for approximately 8-10 people and last for 2 hours The Parish Council RESOLVED to find out from the group of Parishes what interest there is in running one of these courses at Llanwarne Village Hall. Clerk to action speaking to Loraine Coleman from Herefordshire Heartstart about training courses and defibrillator grants plus put a notice in Parish magazines, website, local WI, local village shop and garage to find out interest. 3. The minutes from the previous meeting on Thursday 21st May 2015 were adopted and signed
4. The Chairman’s report –
4.1. The Chairman’s report discussed the Council’s main activities for the past year and these were:
4.1.1. The Parish Council has continued with the Lengthsman Scheme another year with Terry Griffiths as the Parish Lengthsman. This has been another very successful and productive year. The Parish Council has also joined the P3 Footpath Scheme in Dec 2015 appointing Cllr Jason Pacey as Parish Footpath Officer and he has a team of 5 volunteers from across the group of parishes.
4.1.2. The Parish Council’s website has been up and running for a year now.
4.1.3. The Parish Council has decided not to continue writing a Neighbourhood Development Plan.
4.1.4. The Parish Council is in the process of purchasing a sign for Llanwarne village, which will soon be erected to help address the excessive speeds of some vehicles through the main heart of the village.
5. Open discussion for residents mainly took place after the guest speaker’s session and there were no other issues raised in this item.
6. The Parish Clerk will advertise the next Annual Parish Meetings, which will be held in May 2017.
